Kan speaker stands?

Posted by: bigtrak on 27 January 2002

Hi
can anybody tell what the difference is between a Linn Kan I speaker stand and the Kan II speaker stand and also the sound organisation Kan stand. The reason being that I have managed to track down a pair of Linn kan II speakers but have now got to find a pair of stands, I understand that the Linn kan II speakers stands are the ones to get but don't really know what I'm looking for and don't want to buy the wrong ones.
Cheers!

If you look down the 'Open call for pictures' thread you'll find a post or two from Tony Lonorghan featuring a picture of the Kan2 stand. I think the photos on this EBay item show Linn Kan1. Effectively worthless.

No idea about where to find SO stands.

There's a pair of Kan 2 stands for sale on ebay right now.

The Kan 2 stand has larger diameter spikes on the bottom and top spikes with points though I think the top spikes are retrofitable to the Kan 1 stands. Make sure they have larger diaameter spikes on the bottom.

The SO Kan stands are lighter gauge steel with uprights in the front that angle forward. They also have a crackle black finish. The uprights on both Kan stands are parallel with one another and are have a smooth painted finish.

Here's a picture of the Kan 2 stand:

Important points are that two uprights, one in the front, one in the back, the front angled, is a Linn Kan 1 stand and that Linn Kan 2 stands came in about 1983, before the Kan 1 went from sticking out connectors to flush.
