A very vocal greeting whenever he touched the ball.

I was there too. The booing wasn't that bad. But then we're only talking Oxford fans and i don't think he'd have been that worried really. Might be worse when he goes to Anfield though. Some class goals from Moan Utd though, esp Ole's and both of Ronnie's. But like i said it was only Oxford. Good goal from them though and i thought their No2, Eddie Anaclet, had a good game. He made some decent runs and his crossing was better than Ronnie's but that wouldn't take much...

Nah - should've been Wayne Rooney with one of the others to take over after the red card.

Dicuss,

You've been a bit quiet about the start of your campaign (Dives for cover). Winker

I am impressed with the way Sunderland have started the season.................. I'm impressed by their continuity. Thankfully I don't shell out good money to watch them. At 44 years old is it illegal to swap your allegencies for another team..... say Chelsea? No i didnt think so.

Come on you Reds

Dicuss,

Stick with it, as I'm sure you will. You cannot change your club, it simply would not be right.

I've supported Newcastle through thin and thinner. Looking at the trophy count, much as it pains me to say it, Sunderland have won a trophy more recently than the Toon with your '73 FA Cup win. That is unless you count our glorious victories in the Anglo Italian Cup '73 and the Texaco Cup '74 & '75.

Has this put me off, or am I just stupid? So far I have been to one Intertoto game and one friendly, before the season even starts with Wigan on Saturday. Hope springs eternal.

While checking out these statistics, I discovered that Newcastle have gone through 15 managers since I started supporting them (Joe Harvey was the first). Suddenly I feel old!

Keep the faith.

Regards

god damn, just heard that dean ashtons broken his ankle in training with england!!
what is the bloody point in playing a friendly 3 days before a season starts. we really could do without this. imagine the uproar if it was rooney!- Alex Furguson would have mclaren out the door.

Very sorry to hear that - is it confirmed?

I heard his interview earlier and he sounded a really nice guy and articulate too, he is also great player - not only a solid goal scorer, but someone who contributes all the time.

What the hell do they do in training? I'm always stunned when this happens.

Hope he's fit again soon.

So where are the Villa knockers now, eh? And no crude remarks please.

Great result, effort and commitment in abundance from the team, lots of noisy traveling fans, damn, I'm starting to get hopeful. Doug, get me back in my place!

You didn't even miss Mark Noble - I think it would be a good idea to let him stay at Portman Road.

BTW I saw the highlights on MOTD and thought West Ham were excellent.

tim, excellent result at the gooners, i thought villa would get a hiding but you can see the influence o'neill is having on the players already.
rotf, no you cant keep noble as he is a class act but make the most of him now and climb the table.

Chelsea on the way again then...Had been a little unsettled about the lack of 'team' ethic recently but looking at our team yesterday, you wonder who makes way for Ballack, Makelele and J Cole when they're fit (apart from SWP who had a big chance yesterday but blew it). Bridge looked better than he has for a while (at least going forward), even Drogba seems to have shaken off a bit of his lethargy with the energy displayed by his new strike partner (threat?) being a big bonus for us up front. Looked better than in the Pre-Season games and Comm Shield, but I guess that's the point of the pre-season. Nice new shiney right back to come in and replace the fitful Fereira too. And JT and Lampard scored the first two goals again, would have been nice to have seen that in Germany.

Mark - now we got our first point, we'll be moving up that table. I'm sure it'll be a good match, but please don't put too many players on the right hand side, as our game plan depends on the other team not noticing we do all our attacking from the right wing.

Our best performance and I didn't see it - I am being sent a video though. Sorry it had to be QPR - you usually beat us, but we needed the points.
