Looks like the drastic action is paying off already Click and scottyhammer, it's never too late. Winker

Funny old season this one.

It's interesting how many English (and Scottish) teams are still in Europe eg Spurs / Blackburn etc.

Well played.

oooh eeerr!
wouldnt it be ironic if pards keeps charlton up and curbs takes the ammers down!
some would say this would be justice - i for one would not disagree in some ways as you get what you deserve and frankly the way west ham are playing at present they deserve to go down.

Still no place for Mark Noble in your team Confused - he'll give you 100% and he's got the ability. I just feel you need a few youngsters who'll battle for you to turn things around. Not sure why the two Argentines don't get a game - they're good players and I'm sure they would want to prove all the doubters wrong.

I think heavy defeats happen once in a while, the tractor boys have had more than their share, but a couple of good results and everything changes. I didn't understand the second half tactics, I'd have thrown on another forward and gone flat out to get some goals, but then I don't know the situation with the available players. I always think a consolation goal or two does help a team.

Plus, you have some cash to spend in the transfer window - why not buy Darren Bent? He'd score goals now and he'd be wonderful when you have Ashton back. Just a thought.

All the best for 2007.

..Ok pardon the forthcoming rant but ...why is there so much media coverage about the Hammers? ..I have no real strong feelings for or against West Ham but the national media's obsession re their current woes (esp after THAT result)is surely out of kilter with how other fans feel?

As a Sunderland fan I know ALL about nightmare Premiership seasons! yet we (A far bigger club whichever way you look at it)never got the same media attention even when accumulating an all time record low no of premiership points Red Face! ....It surely must be the London connection that so attracts the national media to give ott coverage to The Hammer's woes?

Jet,

For the same reason that the Toon are always one of the the last featured games on MOTD (unless we are playing Manure or Chelski), too bloody far from London.

If you are not the current media favourite....forget it. Mind you at least we still feature on MOTD Winker

jet,
"far bigger club" are you sure ?
i remember going to stadium of light a few years back when we dumped you out of the cup and your supporters had a day off!! literally.
we had 15,000 there and i think the gate was only 30,000 on the day.
you may have a great stadium but when was it last full ?
we have 32,000 - 35,000 regularly even if we are playing shite or are in the championship.
regards, scotty

I don't deny the Hammers get good gates but because you are based in London you also have a distinct advantage in attracting players ....you have to remember we've had the 2 WORST seasons ever in Premiership history in the last 4 years - I defy any club to fill a ground as big as ours in those particular circumstances ....when we finished in 7th place in the Prem (2 seasons running but not in Europe) we had 44/46.000 every week this for a team who haven't had a real "star" player sign since Jim Baxter in 1965! Eek and who have won 1 trophy since 1937
...Even in the Championship under Reidy the season we just missed out (in THAT game against Charlton) we had 40.000 for nearly every game.

The reason our attendances slumped following our last relegation from the Prem was because fans were actively boycotting matches until then Chairman Bob Murray was usurped (it worked eventually!)even as recently as last Boxing day 40.000 turned up to watch a team placed 12th in the Championship play 2nd bottom Leeds.

Given a whole host of somewhat complicated reasons younger fans outside Sunderland might not realise we have the REAL potential of being one of the top 6 supported clubs in England

If they (Sir Niall + Keano) build it they will come!

hi munch,
yes we beat red mancs away then sunderland away
got a home draw against the totts and lost - typical!!
regards, scotty
p.s. 15,000 fans at old trafford - wont ever forget that day (great atmosphere)

IMO, boa-morte should be good for us 'ammers.
He was the capt. at fulham, & so should be capable of helping to motivate the team, which we seem to sorely need on the pitch at the moment. He should also get a few in the net, & could work well with tevez, assuming he stays.
Boa-morte is a bit injury-prone though, so it would be a shame to pin too many hopes on him, & then be out for a month or two. Lets see who else we get in.

he's an excellent player - no idea why it has taken west ham so long to find a place for him in the team - I'm glad he's doing well, he was the main reason we pulled clear of the foot of the table and I'm sure he could do the same for the hammers - good win BTW

rotf,
noble was at the start of last season a regular then if i remember correctly got injured and was then on the bench a lot, dont know why ?
i think beneyoun kept him out - then next thing we knew was he was loaned to the tractor boys.
