Multiplug construction anyone ?

Having lived in the southern reaches of Africa for many years I have a whole bunch of plugs & sockets peculiar to that region. These are three-pin (round pin) plugs (220/240V) with no fuses (earth leakage boxes being the norm). I use the plugs on my hifi into a multiplug arrangement, such as you might buy from B&Q, which connects to the mains via a UK plug with fuse.

The interesting bit (I think) is that the innards of the multiplug (socket ?) are not wired, the connections consist of three pieces of pressed metal, each piece connecting the same position in each socket (got that ?) and having a “hole/connector” to take the pin from the plug. Thus all the same pin positions connect to a single piece of metal, type unknown.

Any thoughts on whether this is better or worse than copper wire and solder ?

Sounds good to me.
