Had to sell my Naim system

Posted by: pjl on 29 May 2009

A sad day yesterday. I have had to sell my little Naim set-up of CD5i-2, Nait5i-2, n-Sats. Due to the prevailing economic conditions my wife and I made the difficult decision over the bank holiday to close our small business and to give our three loyal staff their notice on Tuesday, as we simply can't afford to carry on. We are desperately short of cash - hence the sale of the Naim pieces. I sold my system to James at Tom Tom, and I must say how very fair and supportive he is. He gave us a good price for the system, and in fact ended up giving us more than we had originally agreed which was very much appreciated. He also promised to help us back into a Naim system when our funds have recovered. Dealers like this are few and far between, and I cannot praise James enough for the level of service he provides, with that all-important personal touch which makes you feel that he really values your custom. I'm presently using a humble NAD cd player, Sony A/V amp and Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 speakers. Cetainly not a bad set-up, and still ejoyable, so I can't complain too much - I've still got music.

Thanks fellas. Just have to be positive. Things can't be bad forever and up until now I've done fairly well.
I'm sure there are many, many people out there who'd swap their situation for mine.
Regards,
Steve.

Peter,

Sorry to hear the sad news. Small business is such an important sector of the economy. Try to remember it's not your fault and I'm sure it was a very difficult decision.

Peter, Steve O, and shoot,

Please take care of your health and I hope things get better soon for you and everyone in this situation. Such a strange time around the world. Hopefully friends and family remain supportive and helpful.

Kind regards,

Arun

Very sorry to hear about your situation Peter, but Gary's right about perspective. I'm sure you'll be back on your feet in the near future and enjoying a quality Naim system - these things tend to be cyclical and times are definitely tough at the moment.

You're also right about James - he's brilliant and I'm sure you will be visiting him again soon to purchase a top line bit of kit.

Hang in there.

Regards

Many thanks again everyone for your kind words. There is little choice in life other than to move forwards, and I know that is what my wife and I must do. I have always found that having regrets and raking over previous decisions serves very little purpose. In a strange sort of way the position we are now in is exciting - like a new beginning in life. Who knows where this journey will take us?

Regards,

Peter

I also have been through this ordeal, with a heavily pregnant wife, a sold house and no job!

Now we live in the country with our two children and I have got back into engineering from the living stress of sales.

As the others hear have said look forward not back as you cannot change a choice already made.

Good luck and keep posting.

This is wonderful news and more important than all the other stuff, congratulations.

When my wife became pregnant with our first we were going through a very tough time financially. We got through it because you just do. I think that if we had waited until we were financially able to afford it we would probably still be waiting now!

Best wishes

If it is the first one good luck and get sleeping now! If it is n + 1 you still need to bank the sleep.

You will find the pieces slotting into place as you go. There have been times when I have to pinch myself to believe to that I can sit in the garden, drinking beer, without worrying about work.

Stay positive something good will come along no matter how crap things are today.

I might not be as old, mature or experienced as some of the other forum members, but please allow me to share how I look at these things. Life is a roller coaster ride. Sometimes you are up and sometimes you are down. Things however don't change from miserable to good until they have become really miserable. It is when hope becomes so faint that miraculously things take an unexpected turn for the better. That's just the way it is. I don't think of myself as religious, but I think this is God's way of reminding us that when it gets so bad that you think there is no way to fix it, he will fix things just to remind us of his powers.

People have survived through natural disasters, financial turmoils and way too many wars. No matter how tough circumstances get, the human will to survive and cope still prevails Smile

Good luck with the pregnancy and hope to see you with a complete 500 series one day. You never know Smile

Regards...
