Any alternative Spikes for Sonus Faber Stands?

Hi-

Got my new Sonus Farber Signums today. The are breaking in and so far I am most impressed. I am using the fixed stands which my dealer provided as a Loaner (Innovative Audio-great dealer). My lover likes the speakers, but cannot accept the bases of the stands because of how the spikes work that come with the stands. Moreover, I think the spikes are the sme on the fixed and adjustable wood/iron stands.

1) The Spikes tighten from the top and hence have relatively large knobs which are aethetically objectionable. Spikes that screw in from the bottom, so that the bass plate remains flat would be needed.

2) The spike are not pointy on the bottom (Sonus Faber uses a ball spike). This leave a permanent dent in the rug. Spike that can penetrate the rug leave no dent and are deemed better by my mate. Surprisingly penetrating the rug is not an issue.

Are there after-market spikes that can be used with the Sonus Faber stands that satisfy these objections?

I like the adjustable wood/iron stands better than the wood/stone stands, but I need alternatives to the spikes as they are. Any suggestions? If I cant solve the problem, I will need to consider the stands with the stone bases.

Thanks,

Jay

James, the SF spiukes screw in from the top of the bass plate. Would not that mean that the threading precludes screwing the Mana spikes in from the bottom. Can you please explain a bit more, as I don't understand how this is done?

Thanks,

Jay

Jaybar, exactly what stands are you talking about? The correct stand for the Sonus Faber Signum is called the Ironwood, and the "spike" screws in form underneath the base of the stand, the knurled part fits from above to lock it in. I know these because I own a pair and have done for a year! If you want to replace the spikes with something else, you need an 8mm diameter standard thread design. Just like the ones that Mana make.
