HELP on another track's lyrics (obscure!)

Posted by: domfjbrown on 08 July 2003

I have this vision of summer 1988's Chart Show - must have been July-time funnily enough. On the Indie Top Ten rundown they had a track with a video of people running round a scrapyard or something and at computers, and during the scrapyard running, loads of computer code was rolling, superimposed, up the screen.

The only lyrics I can remember (from the chorus I think?) are:
"With motivation
I can stop you
With motivation
but you won't pull through"
and I seem to remember the track was pretty cool - does anyone know it? Possibly one of the Manc bands judging by what I remember of the sound of the song...

Ah - summer 88 - seems a hell of a long time ago now Smile

Lyrics for the above....(borrowed from the net)

Laugh at what you did today
it's all been done before
Lift your hands into the clouds
you're even in the score
The swimming pool's without a drain
You look at how the water stays
You think again, you think the same
Your steps become a fall..

She said on the phone
that there was nothing to do
Like a kid in the store
with her fingers glued
She said her passion was splashed with sin
It's a final shame, shame, shame...
If I die now before I get old
let the people remember that I was told
To stick with things that made them proud
It's a final shame shame shame...

Last chance you're there
As you lose your motivation
And all you've got to do is let it go...
It's your last phase and every little way
to find you
But all you've got to do is let it go

Take the time to feel the pain
it's all been done before
Put your head into the game
you're even in the score
Let your secrets out to try
The crash you feel when you deny
The lasting thought is all you hear
Your eagerness survives

She said on the phone
That there was nothing to do
Like a kid in the store
With her fingers glued
She said her passion was splashed with sin
It's a final shame, shame, shame...
If I die now
before I get old
let the people remember that I was told
to stick with things that made them proud
It's a final shame, shame, shame

Last chance you're there
As you lose your motivation
And all you've got to do is let it go...
It's your last phase and every little way
to find you
But all you've got to do is let it go...
Last phase and evey little way
to find you
And all you've got to do is let it show...

This the one ?

The name Tripping Daisy rings a bell, but I don't think this is the one - the album, from what I've found on the net, seems to have come out in 1995 so waaaaay too early (unless it's a reissue from 1988?)...

I don't think the lyrics are right either unless of course the bit I was thinking of was sung in the bridge and thus wasn't put in the lyrics?
