The Ray Lamontagne album gets a pretty good review in today's Sunday Times. "Not so much released as escaped" as they put it!

The Ray LaM... is excellent. Another superb
production job by Ethan Johns. The cello adds a mournful tone to some of the songs, this is not an album you will be singin' along to on your happy days, but it is what it is. A friend won't listen to it cause he gets depressed Roll Eyes

I like "Till the sun turns black" even more the "Trouble"......
Also bought David Grey's "White ladder" and "Lost songs", which are both good and recorded great as well!

It's been out in the States for what has seemed like 6 months. Can't understand why they didn't push it here.

That one narrowly missed out as my album of the year for '06. It's not like anything else out there. I've been listening to it for months, and things still surprise me.

Heard some of the Ray La M album on whispering Bob's show a few weeks back brilliant but can anyone tell if it's available on vinyl?

I loved the first Ray album but I was shocked that my first listen to the new album last October had lasted less than an hour because boy did it feel longer.

There are some good if not great songs on there but boy do they amble. It's one thing to create a mood but another to have 2 minute lead ins. Not impressed.

I took the recommendation and ordered the T Bone Burnett and Ray La Manatage as specified. I checked out the review of the Beautiful Girls on Amazon amd, although there was only 1 review I ordered Learn Yourself by them instead as it got 5 stars and I am not familiar with them.

I have a T Bone Burnett album from 1986 and it is excellent.

They should be here tomorrow and I will report back
