Howard's big day out.

Had my belated birthday present yesterday. I had a Ferrari Red Letter Day from my family and went to Thruxton Circuit in Hampshire.
Briefing followed by 3 laps driven by instructor in a Mazda 3,3laps in Porsche Cayman driven by me,4 laps in a Ferrari 355 driven by me, 5 solo laps in a single seater open sports racer and finally 1 fast lap driven by an instructor in a race prepared Mazda RX8.
Great fun and only slightly damp for a portion of my laps, although it had been quite wet in the late morning.
What did I learn?
Driving fast cars fast is very tiring( especially the single seater).
I still don't like Ferraris,OK so it was a RHD version but that "special" gearchage gate is a bloody nightmare to use without looking down at every gear change Staying in 5th for 1 lap did prompt my instructor make more favourable comments and improve may car control.
Thruxtons' instructors know how to pedal around Britain's fastest circuit.
Although the Cayman isn't a real Porsche (ducks for cover) it was much easier and more enjoyable to drive.
Lewis Hamilton has nothing to fear from me, or any other racing driver for that matter.
A great experience highly recommended for anyone who has not tried it, saying that I would do it again given in an instant if the cash was available.
