Van Morrison at Glasto
Posted by: SteveH on 27 June 2005
Did anyone catch the BBC4 program on Van the Man at Glasto? Was it/he any good?
Couldn't record this as well as the rest to watch later so I would be eternally grateful if anyone could let me have a copy of the prog.
Thanks
Steve

You didn't miss anything - literally.
Apparently he wouldn't allow the Beeb to film him, so nothing was broadcast in the end. (Which came as a bit of a relief to me, I can tell you, can't stand the miserable whingeing old git). One of my mates, who is a big fan, says he wasn't that good anyway.
There are always scores of tapers/filmers at Glasto, and chances are someone somewhere recorded him. If you searchsome of the BitTorrent sites, like dimeadozen, bootlegzone, PureLive Gigs or thetradersden, you should be able to download audio or video for free.
Hope that helps.

Ah, that explains something.
I was hoping to catch some highlights of him performing on one of the BBC progs on Sunday but none were forthcoming - no explanation either. Now I know why.
Cheers,
Jon

Apparently the slightly pissed off looking presenter said something like "Van Morrison wouldn't let us tape his performance which is a pity, as he was...quite average".
Don't think Van's a favourite at the BBC at the moment.

I was there and was looking forward to seeing Van Morrison.
We waited for some time for him to come on stage but he was under whelming. The sound was poor and I didn’t engage with his set at all.
Highlight for me was Rodrigo Y Gabriela. They were excellent.
