Here's the star of the show, Naim's new entry-point loudspeakers, priced about the same as Intros.
These are very excellent sounding loudspeakers. Fun, lively and confident - they were driven by a CD5i and NAIT5i. It also timed better than the SL2 demo.
Did anyone say "IBLs"?

The driver complement of these new loudspeakers. A 2.5-way loudspeaker (treble, mid-bass and bass) that makes use of a rather rude looking tweeter unit (that does wonders).

Neil,
Despite the plasma display in the above photo, the Naim DVD players are only present at the What Hi-Fi Show in the Hilton Olympia.

Other oddities. Red Rega boxes in the Totem room - not sure if they were a private paint job or not.

Great pics Andrew.
Those new speakers look great - IBL's but without the dustraps
Interesting to see a three way at such an entry level too.
Andy.

Hi Rico,
I forgot the name, but looking at a later posting reminded me it's called the 'Arriva'.
Interestingly, the Arrivas use a similar styled base to the IBLs.
What is also very interesting is that the CD5i uses surface mount technology to fit most of the CD player into the drawer mechanism. The interesting question is whether (and how) this contributes to an improvement over the CD5.
The demo itself was a fine example of product synergy and musical cohesiveness. Its timing was excellent, and the trickle-up effect may persuade a Linnie to jump camps.

The CD5i draw is much the sae as the naim pull out mechs. However it is clearly of less expensive construction than the CD5, so all yo CD5 owners can stop your panicing.
The draw its self contains most of the curcuitry underneath obviously.
The mech is clearly cheaper and uses a new puck.
The CD5i cannot in any way be upgraded. The facia and case are not the sam build as the CD5.
The silver facias are options for the customer, are avilable for the 5 range ad unless I missed something are simple plates that you snap on the front, for I guess symatry with the fraim.
Those little speakers really did sound great,to my ears that buget system made a mess of the massive 'Art' speakers down the hall. This dem room had so much huge kit in it, I wouldn't have even fitted it in my living room and it sounded shite.
Good day though.

Yes,
Its the same tweeter used on the Audio Physic Yara (or something or other). Very smooth and extended, I think (at least as used in the yara). It has a kind of "expensive" sound to it in my experience. But also somewhat polite (maybe that is what "expensive sound" means). I have no idea.
The whole speakers looks rather more conventional than what I am used to seeing in Naim. Be interested in hearing.

Ged I agree they should have given it another name.

Alex, where did you get these opinions? Where was the credo a failure?
I think you are talking your facts and no one elses.
If you are interested in other peoples opinions then there is one new speaker, the ones in the picture that have a resemblence to ibls.
I assume you made it to the show?
The new speaker sounds really good, infact the little set up for the budget range put out a great sound.

Alex,
Both speakers are the same. One's with the grill and plinth and the other is without the grill and plinth.
