iMac Users

Garyi or MEJ or others. I'm buying a new iMAC for work. The 20" (with extra memory) one is knocked down in some Tott Ct Rd emporia but with the 2 pixel missing LCD issue. Anyone lived with this problem? I understand Apple only replaces them if they have more than 5 or so anyway.

I had one dead on my imac, and unless they are together you arn't going to find this an issue.

Sometimes if you massage the area gently they will go away!

Just make sure that they are going to take it back if any m ore go, if the pixels are togther going from top to bottom it can indicate the whole line may go and that would be a problem

Go to it! 2 dead pixels is a fair exchange for a really low price. My current (2000) PowerBook had at least one from new, and it's never been remotely noticeable.

One tip: any Apple dealer can sell you AppleCare, which is a 3yr hardware warranty. No matter what happens, you will get any and all faults fixed absolutely free and in a timely manner, if you have this. The best thing is that they collect from you in the event of a claim, so at this point you are not dealing with an Apple dealer who may or may not have access to the required parts. It's all dealt with direct, and this severely reduces your downtime. AppleCare can be bought at any time within the first year of ownership, applies worldwide, and should cost about a hundred quid for an iMac. Very much worth it!

Best;
