CD storage problems?

Are you looking for a practical, attractive and sensibly priced cabinet to store your ever-expanding collection of CD's?

Most cabinets in stores don't cater for us music lovers, with hundreds of CD's.

This item from Scotts Of Stow at £200 will store 760 discs and two can be fixed together, if necessary.

I can vouch for the quality, because I have their corner (or wall) unit at £150 that holds 360 CD's. I was impressed with the quality of this item, which arrived very well packed.

I tried to attach the item from the web-site and failed.

Put 'CD' in the search box and it's item 6 on the second page.

The smaller corner/wall unit I have, is not listed on the web-site but is listed in the current supplement catalogue (Corner storage tower 18213)

This has been raised before try a search. Ikea has several solutions on the Billy range.

Try Jutis from Ikea - looks fantastic from a design standpoint - hold 106 CD's costs £11. I have 10 of them.

Ditto the Ikea suggestion. We have two wall cabinet thingys from them - they look cool and hold about 160 Cd's each...

I have narrow shelves bolted straight to the wall. I put my CD on there between the books.

Lots of the "purpose designed" racks won't do anything except jewel cases well, and double cases often have to go elsewhere. There's nothing wrong with plain shelving, and if you make it slightly shallower than a CD they're easy to pick off.

I store my CDs in one of two places:

  • In my self-built shelves in my listening room:

  • In a specialty filing cabinet made for media of all types:

You're actually looking at two 3-drawer units, each of which can hold around 500 CDs. They're made in a company near Toronto called Can-Am Storage. The cost is around 200 quid (US$300). I doubt that you would want to get them shipped across the pond, but I believe that they do a thriving business with US customers.
