CD3(new) or CD2(old)

Hello
As always I got problems =(
This time it's about CDPlayer.
NACD3
A 'new' serviced NACD3 for almost the same price as a NACD2. Or NACD2, never serviced but just costs a little bit more.
I will run the CDPlayer with my Nait 1 and Intro2
So what do you think? Will the CD2 still kick the ass of the CD3 ?

The CD2 is indeed a good player. So is the CD3.
However both have been out of production for quite some years so neither can be new.
Check that you arn't being taken for a ride.
I sold my CD3 last year for 320 pounds. You should be able to get one for around 400 pounds. Any more and they are taking the piss IMO.

I want a cd 3.5!Is it better than a cd 5?what´s the market value (£ or Euros)for a cd 3.5?

Well, I'm damn sure that the player is new serviced. Cuz it's the Player that I borrowed earlier, and it didn't work. So it's on the factory right now i think. But i must by it from the store when it comes back. My first prive was 4500SEK. And now i have just been unsure told that it will cost 8000SEK.
The CD2 costs 10 000SEK.
So do you think the CD2 will work better?

I've never had a CD3 but did buy a 2nd hand (from a dealer) CD2 as my 1st CDP and it worked fine. I then upgraded it for a CDX and I couldn't tell the difference sonically, it was only when the XPS was added that improvement was evident. I sold the CD2 privately in the UK for £950 2 years ago, so your price is in the right ball-park. Overall it should be a good buy, provided its history is OK.

jo. I am still unsure what you are looking to purchase!
If its a CD3, then it simply cannot be new, that model was stopped about 5 years ago, if not more.
If it is a CD3 then it will be worth IMO no more than £450 and thats supposing its just been sat in a box for many years.
Do not get screwed over.
The CD2, is a more refined CD3 if you like. Its in the big box to allow for its suppension. However it cannot be upgraded with a power supply, (which to save money is a good thing!)
I don't know what currency you are talking about so I can't tell you if you are getting a good deal either way.
regards

I think I take the CD2, it must be a better purchase, don't you think so?
The new recapped CD3 costs over 8 000SEK. I don't think it's worth the money. The CD2 costs me 10 000SEK. So I think I will test if the CD2 will fit with my Nait1. If it does, I will buy it.
garyi, the thing I'm wondering of if the newly recapped CD3 will beat the CD2?
The thing that make me unsure is the price.
I was about to first buy the CD3 for 4500SEK.
Sad, it was broken so I returned it back. And was told I could buy it again after service. But they tell me now that after service it will cost over 8 000SEK.

What is a SEK?
The CD2 is beter than the CD3 for sure. Mabye comparable then to a CDX versus CD5 now.
Find out the ages of each unit though. I am not sure if the CD2 ever made it to the new lens, to that end check to see if the lens is on an ark or straight, If its straight then snap it up, if its on an ark proceed with caution, once it goes it goes.
I can't say if each is a bargin because I don't know what a SEK is!

SEK is 'Svenska Kronor'
1£ = 14,5SEK
Serial of CD3 is 099558
Serial of CD2 is 116801
What about the lens, can you tell me more please?

Doesn't the CD2 have a more modern (i.e. no nextel, replacements still available) transport? If it does, it has more life in the mechanism than a CD3.

I bought my CD3 in 1995. Can I get it recapped? Any idea how much it costs? Is it worth it?

Jonus if it turns out to be a better newer transport then 700 quid is a resonable buy, thats no excuse not to try and knock him down though ![wink](/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif)

Jonas,
When Naim introduced the CD3 it piqued my interest since it seemed that a company had finally built an affordable CD player that could play music. But as good as the CD3 is it fell short of the mark for me, so I held on for a while until a used CD2 showed up.
The CD3 is a competent player and clearly trounces the other players I tried at or near the price, but it's a bit ragged for extended listening. The CD2 isn't perfect either, but I can listen to mine for hours at a time without reaching for an LP or wanting to shut it off.
I can't comment if 10 thousand SEK is a good local price, but given what I paid for beer in Sweden it seems like a steal. And, for what it's worth, in my view the fun starts at the CDI / CD2 / CDX level.
Joe
P.S. Just got back from Sweden and just a little bit disappointed that all Swedes aren't 185-cm tall, blonde, and blue-eyed.

I had a CD3 on loan, whilst I had a CD2 on order years ago.
I was using a 72/hicap/250 front end at the time
When the CD2 came through I handed the CD3 back and the difference was noticeable; the CD2 is in a different league to the CD3.
If you can afford it the CD2 is a much better buy.

Jonas,
IMO every CD2 would beat any CD3!!
I agree with Neil, that there's no significant difference between a CD2 and a bare CDX.
I also agree with James when he says, that if you have a CD2 you must change it for a CDSII to get much superior listening.
I wish you a lucky hand!

Jonas,
In 1998 the CD2 was replaced by the CDX.
I checked up some german pricelists and found out that a new CD2 was about 350 € cheaper compared with a new CDX. So if you consider the inflation it's quite the same league.
