Dear all,
I just cant seem to stop playing this fabulous album.
Bill Callahan
Sometimes I Wish We Were An Eagle
A wonderfully beautiful album.
Great great voice.
You can also see him on You Tube playing live at a impromptu session at a recording studio NPR i think.
He is so relaxed while playing and singing.
A damned fine find
David

A highlight of mine from last year too.
Not investigated rest of his albums, have you? I believe he also produced stuff as Smog (but not Golden Smog which is something else entirely).

I bought 11:11 by Rodrigo Y Gabriela last week and haven't stopped playing it since....its very infectious and well recorded. I find it impossible to sit still when its playing. I would put it in the top few CDs I have bought in the last 12 months.
Others include:
Get Lucky - Mark Knopfler
Seldom seen kid (live at Abbey Road) - Elbow
Vagabonds - Gary Louris
Scott.

Have to agree about Mumford + Sons. I know nothing about them, it was leant to me by a mate but it is a real find.
Same chap loaned me The Leisure Society which is a lovely warm and melodic alt.folk album a bit like Woodpigeon or Great Lake Swimmers (but British). Diccus-I suspect you'll like both of these judging from our previous shared tastes.
Bruce
PS If you liked the first Vampire Weekend album but feared they would not stretch to a second, fear not. It is excellent. Bit more variety and maybe not as 'immediate' but still fine.

Check out Jenny Lewis "Acid Tongue". The best of the year. She is the principal in Rilo Kiley.

Just found this Bill Callahan live piece from The Union Chapel, where funnily enough I saw The Leisure Society last year. The LS are excellent live band, where Nick Hemming & Christian Hardy have wonderful voices. If you want to spend more money the 14 Willkommen Artists based in Brighton are worth investigating.

Listening to this on Spotify:-
What a great album(so far), sounds like Arcade Fire's producer, Markus Drays had an effect, at least on on the first couple of songs.

This. I was expecting something fine indeed but was unprepared for the zest and bounce of the thing.
