Which speakers

I would like to upgrade from my ageing
Ruark Talisman's.
To go with Densen Beat CDP, LP12 and
my new Naim 200 & 202.
I don't mind going back to stand
mounts, If neccesary. I have a budget off £1500 ish.
Can't really say about room size as we are
about to move.

Mike,
My answer would be not to think about it until you know the room that your equipment will be sitting in.

Mike,
What is it about the Ruark's that you are not satisfied by?
What is it you are trying to get to?
What are your musical tastes?

"Can't really say about room size as we are about to move."
Yea - wait 'till you have a system up and running in the room and then decide.
We moved a year ago and the new room is larger - yes - but also has very springy (read: bass trap) floors. This room needs bigger, at least fullish-range speakers to even get an acceptable tonal balance (without execessive use of tone controls, etc.). I thought my ProAc Response 2's would handle it but they wern't even close.
Alternatively, you could end up in a room that requires no speaker change at all.

I'm with David Hobbs-Mallyon on this one - wait 'till you've moved, the room can make a huge difference. I moved last September, & my SF Signums (fronted with an aging LP12/Basik/K18 via an SF Musica) went from good to awesome in the process - mind you, they always needed plenty of space, ideally 1m from all walls, which they couldn't have before.

PS - unless you intend to fit the new house to the new speakers...

Mr U
Q.What is it about the Ruark's that you are not satisfied by?
A.I still like them and they sound so much better with the recent addition of NACA5
Q.What is it you are trying to get to?
A.Just feel that there is more potential, to hear from the engine & gearbox.
Q.What are your musical tastes?
A.Pink Floyd Coldplay female vocals such as Diana Krall

Allaes, would be my choice (if you like the sound of Naim speakers?) or as someone else suggested; see if there are any of the 'end-of-line' bargain price SBL's still available.
