just another upgrade question ...

Posted by: PflasterMan on 07 November 2003

Hi,

I currently drive NAIT2 with CD5/FC2 into INTRO2 and thinking of upgrading the system.

So here is my question, what will the best

replace the NAIT2 with the new NAIT5i or
get a pre/pow combo like nac62 | 72 / nap 90 | 140?

Asides: Does anybody has experience with replacing the tweeters from the intro2?

Regards,

PM

The question is do you want looks or sound.
On the one hand, if you want the new style then a new Nait.
On the other hand, if you want sound, I'd suggest listening to a 72/140.

(On the one hand, on the other hand, if I were a rich man biddy biddy...)

The new range of amps sound quite differemt to the old stuff, and it's largely a matter of personal taste.

Does the low volume channel imbalance (with CD) on the Nait2 bother you? If so; you'll find a 72 etc: with its better quality 'pot' a great improvement.

As ever; you need a good dealer to check out the options.

Re the tweeters - I replaced my SBL tweeters at around seven years old, and reckoned it was worth it.

Apparently; their performance deteriorates, due to the accumulation of household detritus, rather than pure use or abuse.

Some contributors here, have suggested the gentle application of the vacuum cleaner. If you do:-

Good luck.
