Forum Rugby Club - 2009-2010 Season

Posted by: JWM on 10 July 2009

Well it's just about mid-July; the Lions have been, been cheated, and gone; so it must be time to start thinking about the new season. Smile

Lots of new faces in most GP clubs, plus of course Leeds now. (Cockers running Leicester, Deano running Quins, Backie running Leeds - these Tigers get everywhere! Winker) And of course Tigers are looking forward to giving out the usual mauling, but this season with a brilliant new stand and a new home kit (to be launched on 24th July). Sorry Sharlene, I'm spending my clothing allowance on that, not some bloomin' Naim T-shirt...!

Actually I think it was Dan Cole today, although I agree Tom Payne has no place in an international team.

Shame it wasn't five games ago.

A better preformance by England despite a miopic ref.

How about Tyndal's performance, out most of the season with injury, back for just a few gamess with Glos then pitched into England side in Paris.

IMHO he should have stayed on for more of the game.

Glos could have have done with him today for the LV final!!!

Scrappy game between the Tigers and the Warriors but in the end the right result 18-39 to the Tigers.

Tight game between Saints and Wasps with a nice drop goal from Myler to upset the Wasps meaning if the Irish beat Sale tomorrow Wasps are out of the top four.Mind you Wasps were quite convincing and i thought they were going to pip Saints at the post Big Grin

Me too. I missed the most of the game as I went out but kept up with the live score on the phone.

I thought we had them on the rack during the first part of the game I watched.

10 - more guile and finesse than power 'n pace unfortunately. Seems that the modern game at Junior level is about teaching skills to natural athletes rather than encouraging participation by those with more nuanced abilities Frown

Intelligence is a much undervalued attribute in ball games these days. I hope he is not put off.

Perhaps if all the players except the two front rows [of course ]were built like your lad [more guile and finesse] we might just see a more exciting game, rather than hitting the opposition at full tilt which usually results in injury Winker Big Grin

Well, lots of excitement off the pitch this week...

Lee Smith has 'left' Wasps after only four games.

And at Leicester, poor old Aaron Mauger has been forced to retire early because of persistent back injury (I'm with you there, bro). Farmer White has re-signed for another couple of years, so that'll be more fun in the front row and top mentoring in the best Tighthead traditions for Dan Cole. Whilst Hooker Muffin Davies is moving back to his native Wales for the last couple of years of his career. And there are a few exciting new signings, either just been announced or about to be.
