Forum Rugby Club - 2009-2010 Season

Posted by: JWM on 10 July 2009

Well it's just about mid-July; the Lions have been, been cheated, and gone; so it must be time to start thinking about the new season. Smile

Lots of new faces in most GP clubs, plus of course Leeds now. (Cockers running Leicester, Deano running Quins, Backie running Leeds - these Tigers get everywhere! Winker) And of course Tigers are looking forward to giving out the usual mauling, but this season with a brilliant new stand and a new home kit (to be launched on 24th July). Sorry Sharlene, I'm spending my clothing allowance on that, not some bloomin' Naim T-shirt...!

Not here Simon. Never was a player as it was always football for me, but rugby has become my favoured sport as I've got older.

Which team do you follow?

Used to play at school in the P.E sessions but stupidly never followed it up,work took over instead and before you know it here we are too many years down the line.
Gonna be at Welford road on Sunday to watch the Ospreys take a kicking.Managed to persuade my ten year old nephew to come and watch too as it`s only a tenner for him and hopefully it will turn him into a fan and make him realise that soccer is a game for overpayed puffs, i keep telling him they don`t play soccer at John Cleveland College as they only produce world class Tigers and Lions

Similar, I went to school in Twickenham you see, other sports weren't much of an option! Got too much like hard work though so moved over to football and cricket away from School in my late teens. A few years ago I was asked to play in a sevens tournament. Bloody hell! Just about killed myself. Anyone on the other team got the ball, I figured they could keep it.

Sadly Simon, I'm long past playing, though the pain is still with me Big Grin arthritic neck, bad back, tighthead prop...

being a westcountry lad, i am a follower of Bath. but when some local friends transfered to Bristol it soon became a love of all-clubs south west (except gloucester!!!!)

on the rare occasion when i am not working I am too busy playing to follow the Premiership unfortunately! I play for North Dorset (when in west country) and London Cornish RFC (when in London). I also coach N.Dorset's U18s side (oh the stress!).

So as you can see I am very pleased indeed by this thread! You guys will have to keep me up to date on whats happening in the pro world then!

No longer playing, now also no longer possible thanks to back surgery - did find myself on the web though, from 1986. An ex-captain of Wales also in view

Love the Heineken cup! There was a great game this evening 'twixt Northampton and Munster. Saints edged it but it could have gone either way right up to the very end. It was a much better game than either of the earlier televised matches. Geraghty played a blinder and with Martin Johnson in attendance it will be interesting to see if he gets a look in for the autumn.

Munster are seasoned campaigners though, and typically managed to squeeze an away losing bonus point. I am sure it will become hugely important by the end of the qualifying stage. They know how to play the European game!

What a game! Even better than yesterday's. 32-32 will suit Osprey's better than Tigers although the try bonus point will be a consolation for Leicester. It was a great comeback and they could have won it at the end, though, if only Hamilton had used the overlap on his right instead of cutting inside and taking the tackle.

We don't have Sky Frown I've spending the afternoon painting the downstairs loo (which, as you know, has some tight corners, so I'm sure it'll have been a sight for sore eyes...)

Did you get my PM Mark?

Yes, yesterdays game was a brilliant one i thought we had bottled it by half time but what a come back and in the dying minutes it was begging for a drop goal and i cannot see for the life of me why they did not seize the moment for an easy three points and the match. I was sitting in the cat stand again and the atmosphere was electric although one or two of the osprey fans showed bad manners during the penalty shots and was promptly told to shut it by more or less the whole cat stand. On another note my nephew loved the game and expressed an interest in going again which was a result in itself, but as soon as we got him back home his old man started an assassination of the game [he being a soccer fan ] and it was hard not to get a hold of the twat and punch his f#@king lights out. Red Face
now chill and breathe deep. Ahh rant over

I see in the rugby paper that the owner of Wasps has big ideas and he plans for a possible move to a new ground/development that will also incorporate the football team. possibility then that london will be taken from the Wasps name ???

Were that the case I am sure it would not exactly be the end of the world, seeing as that has only been their name for the last 10 years, and that for around 130 years they had existed simply as Wasps FC.

DL is it last Sunday's Rugby Paper (11.10.2009)? If so (I managed to buy one this week) which page, I missed it.

Milton Keynes perhaps, to go with the Dons???

Yes mate, last sunday their owner has an interview over a couple of pages or so, the man certainly knows what he wants and expects from staff and players. He`s a financial man by background so must have a dodgy past as all the financial people i know could not lie straight in bed

"Viadana were aiming to record their first win in Europe at the 14th attempt..."

Says it all really.

If you want to do it properly...
