Forum Rugby Club - 2009-2010 Season
Posted by: JWM on 10 July 2009
Well it's just about mid-July; the Lions have been, been cheated, and gone; so it must be time to start thinking about the new season.
Lots of new faces in most GP clubs, plus of course Leeds now. (Cockers running Leicester, Deano running Quins, Backie running Leeds - these Tigers get everywhere!
) And of course Tigers are looking forward to giving out the usual mauling, but this season with a brilliant new stand and a new home kit (to be launched on 24th July). Sorry Sharlene, I'm spending my clothing allowance on that, not some bloomin' Naim T-shirt...!

Just about!!! Work's been tough enough as it is and they've now given me South Wales and Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and the South West as well as Oxford, up to Northampton, Cambridge and Suffolk!!
Phew!
It's still a job, though!

Just so long as it`s not my balls as i am hoping i will need to press them into service again in the near future

Posted on: 13 December 2009 by Chillkram
Phew! Try fest in Clermont!
Posted on: 13 December 2009 by deadlifter
Most certainly, and i bet flood will put some ale away tonight. But seriously the tigers need to get a grip on that ball and stop dropping it all over the pitch
Posted on: 19 December 2009 by deadlifter
And the tigers are still in the running, yippee
Only drop goals from the opposition, so if it was not for their man`s boot they would have been in trouble. Ospreys next

Because of the requirements 'safety of sports grounds act' the Cat Stand has had to be built as self-sufficient, with its own bars etc. So it is not possible to get to this section from the Clubhouse or A&L ends.
Also, being new, the Cat is in the process of building its own atmosphere towards legendary Crumbie Stand standards. The Cat can do it, as was proved in the great SA match, but I think being a lot bigger and more open, on the whole people are feeling a bit self-conscious.
However, as this is not a quality I anticipate of DL and his posse

LoL,Make sure the pest with you cheers for the Tigers
its a shame but i did expect you to be on the opposite side of the ground and i also forgot that the Cat stand is self contained, have they got plans this coming year to do the same to the crumbie stand ???
I will have to take a pair of binoculars to make sure Chillkram is behaving in an appropriate manner

Also we are looking to get there early as you know parking is a complete nightmare and the scouts are going to be a large presence of which we are involved, two thousand to be exact.

Did I tell you I too was a Scouter?
Anyway, Welford Road future development. Artist's impressions - virtual reality tour (take a seasick pill first
).
I like that fact that the 'virtual reality' scheme not only includes terracing so that spectators will still be able to stand, but in fact MORE terracing, on three sides rather than the present one.
At the moment, Welford Rd crowd seems to be a capacity 24,000 (wow) for games with the biggest 'pull', but at least 18,500-19,500, so always at least 1,000 up on capacity as of last season. Compare that with many other GP clubs...
Especially with economics being what they are at the moment, realistically I wouldn't expect further redevelopment until the current ground is at capacity more of the time. (I believe that outline planning permission has been obtained, though.)
Also, I wonder if practical consideration like economics will dictate adjustements to the 'virtual reality' scheme, particularly the A&L stand? It's a big stand to pull down altogether and start again. Perhaps a remodelling and facelift eventually?
Although the Crumbie is getting old, it is the Tigers' supporters' heartland, so I expect it to be the last to be redeveloped.
First up will be the Clubhouse end methinks.

And you would be right on that assumption,i was talking to a season ticket holder yesterday and he confirmed that and it should start 2010 with the shop being incorporated into the Cat stand

LOL. Just call me 'my lord'
Good news on the Hotel Street front for 9th. Haven't yet formalised plans with the others, but my car will be dropping off No1 daughter and stuff at accomodation for new Term at Univ, so it'll have to be planned around that, and son and mate will have to be let out on a longish lead as they can't stand hifi
but we'll work out something.

Shock-horror, Wasps go down to Newcastle 12-6.
While Tigers beat sarries yesterday leaving their foreign boss bitching about the ref, boo hoo
which makes the Tigers 6 points clear of the pests
Roll on the 9th

A very satisfactory weekend one way an another.
Venter throwing his toys out of the pram just goes to demonstrate that - I'm sorry to recourse to national stereotypes, but when it comes to sport it seems to be so - South Africans just can't 'lose', they always seem to be 'cheated out of winning'.
Anyway, his 'mantrum' (man toddler tantrum) may well get the response it richly deserves...

Chillkram, JamieWednesday and Deadlifter - you have PM about Saturday 9th January. Important breaking news about kick-off time.

Evening All!!
Been away from the forum for a while but now I'm back to take you Tigers down a peg or two!!! Obviously Wasps have had a bit of a bad run lately, but I had to go to the sporting history section of the local library to look up the last time we lost to Tigers, so the gap should have closed a bit by Saturday evening!

20 games without losing at home, they will have to come and play the game of their lives
