Great loudspeakers for budget seekers

I've mentioned this briefly before, but the Mission m71 loudspeakers are very good and would suit many people's starter systems.

They were about 160 pounds (sounding more like a 400 pound loudspeaker), now they've been discounted to about 90 pounds in various shops including Richer Sounds.

I hope this helps those starting out, and maybe people who can just afford a CD5/NAIT with little left over for loudspeakers.

Hi Andrew,

I must say I haven't heard the M71 yet, but I'm also pretty enthousiastic over Mission loudspeakers.
I recently tried some highly praised Mission 780's on the end of my Nait-2.
Even though it didn't sound very good in a store about 2 years ago, it sounded pretty amazing in my own room. Open, transparent mids and a crystal clear, detailed but never agressive tweeter.
The only reason why I didn't buy 'em,was because of the width(at bottom of speaker) of only 14,5cm(!) So, that meant it's almost impossible to find a decent/good looking stand for it.
(only the imho ugly Mission stance would do)

So, that's why I got back into Kan's, but if I had to...I could easily live with Mission 780's!

regards,

Another good buy is the Dennon speaker made by Mission for around £70 that normally sells with the DM3 or DM30. This is a very small speaker that really defies it's size. Low price high performance.

I bought a pair of B&W dm302's for my office system and have been pretty impressed. 92db sensitve, lively, and fun. In a small room they put out pretty good bass too.

cheers,
