naim plugs

Ken,

The naim plugs make much better contact than other plugs so make a secure fit into the amp as well as the speakers. In musical terms I find that even on low volume settings the music from bass to treble is not lost as can happen with other plugs.

The previous message was supposed to be an answer to Ken C. on his post called Naim speaker plugs.

many thanks for comment. my experience exactly. i am getting more content and, i agree, even at very low volumes. right now i have a little problem with slightly noisy treble, which i will try to track down when i have a moment. the system sounds so musical now though that i am not too worried about this -- but i will double check each speaker plug to make sure that the soldered connections are secure.

Ken,

The solderings are very important. You haven't used silver solder I hope ?Make sure the naca5 is soldered tight but with not to much solder.

robbie many thanks again. i know in an earlier post i had threatened to do this myself, but in the end, i chickened out and got it done at a naim dealer, who, i would assume, would know what to use and what not to use. if it turns out this is the source of the problem, i will not be at all pleased. can you tell from the appearance of the soldered joint??

Ken,

Sorry for the late reply but I had work to do.It's difficult to see what kind of solder there has been used. From appearance silver is more glancing than other solder. The only way to be absolutely sure is to contact the dealer. The meltingpoint of silver is higher then other solder but how to check that ?!

Good luck,Rob.
