Hard drive question

Computer illiterate need answers to some questions, any help appreciated.

Spouse bought a Jobo Spectator 120gb photo hard drive, lost her photos due to the unit malfunctioning, returned to manufacturer for repair, she has lost faith in its reliability.

Says it supports file type mp3 - can I store music on this thing ? How would I transfer from iTunes, the two inputs are unfamiliar to me - one is the photo card (chip) input and the other is a wide thin multi-pin of some sort.

Wondering if I could store music mp3, output to Bersford dac for playback.

???????? I have no idea what I am talking about, just hate for 120gb of storage not being used for something.

Thanks

You can store what you like on it. It's just external storage that allows you to view stored photos (assuming they are saved in a compatible format).

The wide multi-pin connection is likely to be USB. Just plug it in to your PC and you should then be able to transfer files to and fro.

Cheers

Thanks for the response, I guess with the right connectors I am in business.

Okay, I got that to work and make a folder in Jobo for each "album".

When I double click the first track of an album in Jobo, it opens iTunes and starts playing back - BUT, it is also "adding the song" to my iTunes library which is unnecessary at this point.

I have checked preferences in both Mac system and iTunes and don't find a toggle where I can keep the playback from being added back to iTunes. Any help ?

Thanks again, I now have 120gb of storage available. That should last me a little while, and am getting useage from the device that was just laying around.
