Hidden details

One thing I have noticed the better the system that I have listened to is how much more revealing it is - how much better it is a resloving those finer details.

Has anybody pinpointed any obvious mistakes made by the producer or artist when listening which as become more obvious as they have upgraded.

One that springs to mind are the "bumps" in Are You Lonesome Tonight by Elvis Presley. Apparently recorded in the dark you can quite clearly hear him bump into the microphone stand at one point.

Any other examples?

Loads of zappa stuff you can hear zappa telling people to slow down or what ever, I think this was on purpose though. Thing is I never heard it before I got naim stuff, so there you go.

I find you can hear Steve Howe's cuffs scraping the strings in many yes recordings as well, as the above says this can often be a distraction to the music, especially when you hear it and can't 'stop' hearing it!

On the Frank Sinatra track 'Very Good Year' on the Sopranos CD you can hear one of the orchestra members adjusting his seat.

On a really good system you can just about make out that he's a double bass player, weighs 95kgs, the seat has a vinyl top and the $0.25 coin in his back pocket is 'tails'.

I noticed trumpet sounds in general from my SACD player were very 'spitty' and overly 'puffy'---I found
the main culprit was Harmonic Technology Pro Silway II interconnect---changed to Transparent Audio Music Link with much better results. Goes
to show cabling is very system dependent.
