Speaker Choices

Posted by: AlanK on 19 December 2003

Hi All,

My current system consists of 252/Supercap2/250/CDX2. I have been trying to look for a pair of good matching speakers. I have shortlisted down to ProAc D25 (replacement for ProAc 2.5) and Neat MFS. I have not heard both of these speakers as my local dealers do not have them. I have heard ProAc 2.5 and really like its clarity, sound staging, and transparency. But since ProAc 2.5 is discontinued I would have to wait for the D25. I wonder if Neat MFS will do better in those aspects than the ProAc D25? How does it sound like?

Thanks very much for your comments!

Alan,
For Neat speakers:
Are you in Richmond Yorkshire or Richmond on Thames? If you're in Yorkshire, you're very close to Neat themselves, in Barnard Castle (www.neat.co.uk). If London, try Grahams (www.grahams.co.uk). A home dem is a must at this price level.

Hello All,

Thanks very much for your comments! Unfortunately, I do not live in Richmond Yorkshire nor Richmond on Thames! I'm over in Canada. The Neat Dealer here does not have MFS demo, and the ProAc Dealer does not have D25 demo as well. I wonder if anyone of you have a chance to hear both speakers and can shed some light on how they compared to one another?

Regards,

Alan
