Kevin 'Bloody' Wilson

Everyone,

Had a very entertaining evening last week watching Kev in Southport.

I was wondering what other people thought of his humour and songs.

I personally don't find him offensive and don't believe that he has a racist bone in his body. Yet most of his songs do pick on the typical racial streotypes that get jumped on by the politically correct brigade. Kev makes a big point in his show about 'Political Correctness' and the fact that one word cancels out the other. He also made the point that racism is born out of hatred not humour.

Yet similar jokes told by the likes of Bernard Manning, Chubby Brown, Jim Davidson etc, I DO find offensive and make me feel very uncomfortable.

I was wondering what it is that is different about Kev than the other comedians who tell similar jokes.

Also, can Kev's songs be classed as good music. I love listening to them every now and again.

Would love to know other peoples thoughts on this.

Regards

Mark

I've liked Kev's music and lyrics since the halcyon days when we had 19th generation dubs on Tandy Concertape in school in 1988 Smile

Saw him live 2 years ago and he's fantastic - two enthusiastic thumbs up - good holiday fun!

Incidentally, I had to conceal my laughter when my dad was reading from the paper in 1990, turned to my mum and said "LOOK AT THIS - Kevin "Bloody" Wilson - X RATED COMMEDIAN! What kind of scum enjoys this?" (funnily enough, the ad was for a Southport gig....) I almost spat my tea out laughing, since his own son of 15 had 3 tapes in his bedroom at that particular moment.

Needless to say, I went and played "Mick the master farter" rather loud immediately after...

would have liked to have been a fly on the wall after that family episode ...the look on your poor mother's face after "Do you f**k on first date?"

I find the recordings of his I have heard quite amusing occasionally, having first come across him berating Rolf Harris (whom I quite like). I saw him play for Chelsea before they had too much money.

Oddly enough she'd have probably been cool with it - she actually likes both Nirvana's "Unplugged" and Suede's first album - even the bit where Brett Anderson warbles about "f***ing with a slip of a man" - pretty much gobsmacked me anyway. She usually listens to (gasp horror) stuff like Sarah Brightman and taze chants...
