Sunday Blues
Posted by: Earwicker on 04 December 2005
Am I alone in finding Sundays utterly detestable? There's no rational explanation for this, but they make me want to do the decent thing and end it all!
I am deeply convinced of this: if I were stranded on a desert island, with no watch or calender or any means of verifying what day it was, I'd STILL know it was Sunday because I'd want to attach something heavy to my body and jump in the sea!
Perhaps one of my dire idiosynracies...

I kinda know what you mean. I always end up getting out of bed really late on Sunday, with a number of things in my mind that I would like to do, but never find the motivation to do any of them. Today it was to fit a new gear gaiter to my car and to get aiport express on my mac up and running. I have failed to do either of those, instead spending the day pottering around on the net, watching tv and wowing myself at how utterly rubbish i am at playing half life 2 on my xbox. It only seems to happen on sundays too, any other day off and im fine. Weird huh?

Don't worry EW!
Someone else would attach something heavy to his body and jump into a river.
Good evening.

No bløødy exercise! That's your problem.
On yer bikes early and get the cobwebs blown away.
If your eyes aren't watering you're not doing it right!
BTW: Leave all all the toys at home!

You miserable sods
I enjoy sundays.
I have popped out for an excellent lunch, with Mrs Mick, in an Anglo French restaurant, had a nice bottle of wine to wash it down. Called in to see the Grandchildren and now back here for a snack and a few glasses of whisky.
Life is what you make it.
Regards
Mick

I find Sunday to be an excellent day to modify audio equipment, but maybe that's just me....

Today has been mostly good - I've:
Been out & picked up the papers
Walked the dog out in the lovely (but sodden) countryside
Done some work (busy time of year)
Sorted my expenses
Sorted out the paperwork for an insurance claim
Done some on-line festive shopping
Had a nice lunch with the Mrs
Still to do:
Jobsheet for last week
Some more work
Evening stroll
Watch Top Gear
Wished I'd had time to:
Wash the car
Go to the gym
Do some gardening
Next weekend perhaps!

Sunday is the perfect excuse, particularly during winter, to drink slightly too much wine while listening to great music as a roast sizzles away in the oven.
I've managed to get the meat and the wine organised so far today (as of 5.45pm), but the wine's going down so well that the oven's not even on yet. Shall have to stir myself soon, though, as I'm starting to get hungry.
EW, if the picture that I'm portraying isn't music to your ears, just think of your very favourite things, and do them with a vengeance on Sundays.
Music and wine for me: so I'm f*cked!

Sounds good... but I'm a half-empty man.

Since I packed up work, Sunday has a different feel - if it rains it does not matter 'cos it might be nice on Monday, the local reserve is not crowded on the rest of the week so allow those saddled with work have the use of it on the weekend.

How do you tell the difference from a Saturday?
Sundays used to be something special, and truly relaxing when virtually no shops were open.
Now it's screwed up due to commercial greed.
John.

5.30pm on a Sunday is the the worst time of the week,
The Baby Jesus must have made it so to get a rest from all the God bothers later in the evening.

Mick, I hope you were not driving after all that alcohol.
I know what your age group is like for that.

Sunday is fun day for me. I get to play with the Kids more than on any other day. We read stories, play games and have a real good time.
Then off to Borders and buy an extortionately priced CD or two. Then it’s music time, with plenty of wine! Put the kids to bed. Then a bit of forum surfing, more wine, maybe even get some sex if I get lucky ! Then Monday comes along and buggers it all up.

Yes - but it's turned into Homebase.

If my wife and I were 100% religious, we would not have had our marriage or wonderful children.
........ but you should see me put up shelves !

The whole church thing has changed. Probably changed for the worse. Yes, it is Homebase and Comets on a Sunday followed by Pizza Hut rather than a family Sunday roast.
Kinda sad in a way. I go to church for funeral's and weddings these days, maybe a christening on a good day.

To clarify. I am Scot's Protestant and my wife is Jewish.
Our love and devotion for, and to, each other has provided a stable marriage and a wonderful family. We are all happy.
Maybe the individual devotion to religion is diluted but the family unity is strong and our belief in each other is great.
I live in a wonderful city, full of cultural and religious diversity, yet the main protagonists of religious disharmony stem from differing factions of the same religious ideology - Christianity.
One God, one family, one belief - maybe something right in that statement............
