Are Naim CD Players More Prone To Skipping?

Posted by: markjp on 19 November 2002

In the last few months I have bought 2 CD's that skip in several places when played on my CD3.5.However when I played them on another CD player they were fine. There were no visible signs of damage, dust etc on the CD's.

Are Naim CD Players more prone to skipping? Or maybe my 3.5 is starting to show a fault.

Any Ideas appreciated.

Thanks

Mark

It'll be your CD 3.5 I should think. Naim CD players seem to be able to play almost anything without skipping. I have Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, and the first track was unplayable - kept skipping since I scratched it as a teenager. My CDX plays it just fine, and no other player I have used can.

Steve.

It's just a pleasure to hear music as it was intended to be heard.

The only time my CD5 skipped was when i played some 'copy protected' cds.

I find my Naim CDX does skip occasionally, perhaps a little bit more than I would expect but no-where near as much as my Roksan Caspian used to.

They do germ, all of them and is likely to be the problem.

The 3.5 uses the flat puck with three points of contactm firstly turn the rubbers half a turn each to make them more rounded, this may help.

Make sure the cd is clean, people say they are when they are not.

If the puck is playing up you may get err messages as well, in which case get it replaced.
