Now that I have your attention, I'd like to ask a surprise question: "What do you think is the best CD player for a 72/140?

Well, I guess the best player is CDS3 with XPS2.

Come on ghunter, you can do better than that...
What are the options and how do you rate them?

prowla,
Yes, I'm sure you're right. I guess I really meant to ask for the best "matching" CD player at a similar cost.
I suppose my options start with most of the olive CD players Naim made: CDS, CDS2, CD1, CD2 and CDX.
As usual, all advice appreciated.

A good question that I need to answer for myself over the next few months, thanks for asking it.
I currently have a 1989 vintage Sansui CD-x711 attached to my 72/140 combo (hi-cap on order) and I am planning on auditioning the CDX2, Meridian 588 and MF A308 as replacements. I doubt if I would be looking at these machines, however, if I were not looking to move to a 282/250 combo later on.

Just go for a s/h CDX, it will sound fine and you can also upgrade later.
