Tosca - Different Tastes of Honey

Posted by: Rico on 04 March 2002

Anyone got this yet? I saw it on saturday, and exercised unusual restraint in not buying it. Is it any good?

So if you have it - is it better than Chocolate Elvis?

Earlier (2000) but it's been re-released - 5 top tracks. I'll refrain from recommending anymore CD's - don't want to add to your plight!

Still waiting for Lampchop and Tosca from Smoke. They've got really slow recently...

I have said this far to many times already but the new lamb chop is great, worth the wait.

I have also just got another late night, fila brazillia mix, very good also.

Speaking of the Chemmy Boys, took a trip to Real Groovy yesterday (did not pass go, nor collect £200)... and scored Surrender on sale. Had a good listen yesterday evening, and am stunned that I hadn't bought this earlier - it's great! I guess I already knew most of the tracks on it from radio play... but am very impressed. Is "Brothers gonna work it out" any good? I already have "Come with us" and "Exit Planet Dust"

And I also scored Orbus Terrarum, by The Orb. Great chilled out stuff.

And hey wow, Real Groovy has a loyalty program (now wouldn't that have been a bonus at Selectadisk or Sister Ray records!)... so as you clock up massive expenditure on new and used vinyl and CD's, you get discounts on what you buy. And a funky new music mag as well. Colour me impressed.

I also found myself unable to resist a copy of The Psychedellic Furs "forever now"... on vinyl in exc condition for the princley sum of NZD2.95 - thats about 80p in real money. Now, best I get that room finished so that I can sort out the LP12 again!
cool

Rico, track two off surrender is good to sahke the cobwebs out the speakers eh?

The only issue I have with CBros, is that their recording quality is total pap, as evidenced on surrender very impressivly, if they could just get the recording good I would listen to surrender a lot more, as it goes its just one of those rare occasion sounds.

Their latest although really good musically again sounds compressed and harsh at the same time, its only them I know that can actually do this!

Saw the live Honey sessions in Flex (Vienna) last month . very good. Have yet to hear the CD release.

If you like the vienna sounds, you should check out Klangwirkstoff Scheibosan (under the Black Coffee name). These Cd's are comps (1-4) but are excellent. Definitely some of my most played CD's

Enjoy

P.

Thanks very much for the event info for Fila Brazillia. I just booked to see them at Shephards Bush Empire on the 22nd March.

They also happen to be supported by Kinobe, who are also dynamite.

Thanks!!

Gary,

Hopefully it won't be like the last time I went to Fabric and see K&D. It was way too crowded, we decided to (gradually) make our way out of the sardine tin after an hour of them playing frown Shame as the set they did was one of their most inventive.

Maybe it won't be so bad at Fabric with Fila Brazillia as I believe they're less well-known than K&D.

Garyi,

Just a quick note to say that the FB concert was fantastic. In fact they did two encores. The only thing was that the Shephards Bush Empire website said that Kinobe was supporting them, this was not the case although they (Alpinestars) were very good.

Basically, FB were doing a set from their Jump Leads album, but sadly didn't do any of their old stuff.

Cheers Andrew.

Luckily after the honeymoon I am still in love with jump leads so look forward to seeing FB do that album, (in fabric doh!)

My girlfriend really wants to go to fabric for a revisit so it was inevitable
