I've Fallen In Love with a CD Player at last!

After 4 months of intensive use I am definitely in love with a CD player: My Sony D-EJ925 Walkman.

What impresses me most about this player is the way it manages to sound upbeat but not harsh as well as being pretty detailed. The 'structure' of the music fit's together well and each disc just sounds more intelligible than I have previously encountered.

When hacking about London on the train and tube I use the standard supplied headphones (not that brilliant but are getting better with use). At home I use the Line Out socket into an X-Can headphone amp and Sennheiser HD600's - then it really shows what it can do. I've been buying CD's like crazy since I got it! In fact I'm really tempted to buy a spare just for future use.

I know this is a bit off topic for this user group but has anyone else had experience of this player?

Oh, and it has amazing battery life, superb construction, good looks and is so slim you don't notice it in a jacket pocket. I'm so glad I didn't go down the MiniDisc route.

No doubt there are some on this group that would claim it could thrash a CDSII, CD12, LP12, NAT01 if placed on a Mana shelf....

I'm sure you're right:

I've had problems in the tube with the Mana shelves stapled to my ears though.

Have you tried it through your main system to hear how it sounds? Most of my Naim kit is in storage so I haven't tried that yet.

Sounds good through the HD600's.... not sure about the Kans though.

SNAPS? I thought battery power would be even smoother than that surely.

I notice that there are a high number of views to this thread - bearing in mind the title, there must be quite a number of disgruntled CD player owners looking to see what the Holy Grail is.

Apologies to those that then find it is only a Discman.
