25 years

Can't believe it's already 20 (25 years actually, never could do mental arithmetic) years since John Bonham shuffled this mortal coil. Was listening to "When the levee breaks" in an at-home on my own Hurrican tribute concert (Dr. John, The Meters, Dewey Balfa, etc,) when the missus was out Roll Eyes

Brought a lump to my throat I must say.

R.I.P Bonzo, thanks for the memories - after "Rock n' Roll" music moved from the background to the foreground and has thankfully remained there ever since.

Have you seen the current Mojo magazine, which has a lengthy article about Bonham's rise and demise?

Yes - thanks Graham, a buddy sent it over from the UK.

I listen to a wide variety of music but have yet to hear someone so completely in control of his instrument - and I am not just limiting that to drummers. The article in Mojo is very good but I had my little at home "session" before reading it - I had looked on the internet and was absolutely gobsmacked that it was 25th September 1985! Frown

Erm. It was 25th September 1980.
So this thread should read it was 25 years ago.

don't worry, time heals all thoughts as we pass into dementia in our old age. It's been 33 years since my high school graduation and wonderful memories of Cat Stevens, the Who and Led Zepplin, and 43 years since the Beatles' invasion. Where has the time gone?

Ian Curtis and Bonzo in the same year? Bad time.

Let's not forget Bon Scott - 19th February 1980.

And 35 years, amazingly, since we lost Jimi Hendrix.

Very, very sad indeed.

John Lennon was murdered on the 8th December 1980.

All in all, a miserable year.
I can still remember being in the Fifth form at Grammar School, just discovering rock music, and realising those 2 acts would only ever be enjoyed on record.

I've cancelled my subscription to Mojo because the obits get me down, people of my own age shuffling off, just too close to home. Speedy Keene gone, for goodness sakes, he was just a lad, a mere strippling, no right at all to be going so soon.

I forgot about Bon, shame on me. Has to rate as one of the loudest weeks of my life - AC/DC at the Apollo Victoria (I think) and Motorhead a few days later. Took a month for my organs to stop vibrating and relocate themselves.
