Killed in a road accident. Ironic how he survived F1 during it's still dangerous era in the 70's only die on a public road.

Tragedy but maybe shows how safe racing is if everyone is travelling in the same direction.
I remember him from my youth, back in the dark old days of F1. Stewart, Hunt, Lauda et al.
MODS - Could someone please edit the title to spell the deceased's surname correctly ?

He was a real character.
Met him numerous times before and after his career-ending accident... first time I met him I think I was about 7!
I have an enduring memory of him from the early 80's... he'd just hoisted himself out of a Lamborghini Countach, complete with all the hand controls, and was hurtling round the paddock at Silverstone in his wheelchair, pulling wheelies and cracking jokes.
A truly wonderful chap, he will be missed by many.

Apologies up front, I've never heard of him, sounds like an Italian pasta dish!

Sorry to hear that.
Graham Hill survived 18 years in F1 + Le Mans, Indy 500 and other stuff, only to kill himself in an aeroplane accident shortly after retiring.

What a shame. A hero from the era when it was proper drivers and proper cars. I was just a kid but I watched and I remember those names. Couldn't tell you the name of a single F1 driver now.
