And how exactly can they do both these things?

"Motorists are advised to delay their journey for half an hour and allow for extra travel time."
This is the recommendation from the NSW Roads and Traffic Authority, follwing a truck fire on the F3 freeway north of Sydney today. It made me smile, and be thankful I don't have to put up with that $h!+e anymore.

Based on this post and your previous one about the Melbourne Storm one can assume that you really didn't enjoy the time you spent in Australia although it would also appear that you like to keep up to date with what is going on there?

An excellent question. I grew up in Australia and certainly did enjoy my time there.
The Melbourne Storm thread was directed at football in all it's boof-head codes and the violent, stupid, overpaid misogynist thugs that play them.
The traffic thing is a general rant against cars wherever they drive. But I am especially happy not to be subjected to the clu$terf$%# that is Sydney transport, and the bloody griping that goes with it.
I do enjoy keeping up on aussie news, but more of a schadenfreude thing, really. Supertax, ETS, web-filters, Clover Moore's hairstyle etc
I hate that overpopulation and climate change have destroyed the natural environment in Australia, too. I'd rather not experience it in person.
(Oh, and I was born in Wanganui)

I saw the ex NZ in your profile. I'm ex Kenya, Ex UK, Ex SA, Now in NZ. Haven't been to Wanganui yet though.
Must say i'm not an NRL fan in anyway but I do enjoy some of the other football codes, especially the one played with the round ball.
We have our own traffic problems here in Auckland - I live on the Devonport peninsula and there is one road in/out. Recently they made the lanes narrower and installed two cycle lanes. It hasn't been pretty with the 'for' and 'against' camp playing out the drama in the pages of our local papers every week.

This evening here in sydney my journey home of exactly
40 km
took 1 hour 40 minutes due to crashes on other road systems causing backog throughout the roadsystem called the Cumberland Highway.
Ho Hum.
the joy of the commute in Sydney.
Even better is the Pacific Highway at long weekends. Now that is a sight to see.
