A small sonic gift from me to all of you .........

Hola everyone,

Sadly my stereo has been now boxed up for my move back to Europe in a few days, but last night my new muse and I wrote and recorded a track with whichever bits of the studio were left about. We could only use the built in mic and A/D on the macbook pro, and we had no reels for the Otari. The new lavry DA11 I ordered a billion years ago is still not here, but we used the mighty Nait 3 to drunkenly record and mix this piece.

The consumption of bottles of cheap Rioja and a bottle of " wodka " meant that, well, sorry Mike but the timing is horrific , I have no idea what key this is in, and not sure how the mix will translate on all of your proper Naim systems, sorrry !

Some of you may have heard the little pieces I made in response to other threads by Mikeeschman ( the mellotron piece for JaimeeL , the Paganini for Glockenspiel etc ), this one is different. Fans of Led Zepilin may recognize the Mellotron strings I used as they are the same tape bank as John Paul Jones used in " the Rain Song ". I also could not resist adding some Rutherfordian bass pedal goofiness.

So farewell for now, I will be back in a few months and if only one of you like this, then fantastic. I am still hungover from it but a great final farewell to this listening room I love so much.

I have uploaded it as an AIFF, ( pc users can convert to wav, sorry ! ) and the download site is safe.

Take care all, and keep listening

Long live the Nait 3
Long live cheap rioja
and viva skinny Spanish waitresses that sing

Hi Jamie,

yes I will do that. We only have 6 tracks so far but when we have some more we will make some kinda site that people can take them from, perhaps an ambient-samba version of ' Close to the Edge' ? Winker

Take care

joaquin

oh and sorry , the file is ALAC apple lossless, and does not have to be downloaded, it can just be played from site by clicking the little play button.

cheers

Harold-

Very nice indeed!!!
What a great voice your muse has!

Also, listening to it off my pc, I am quite impressed with the results you achieved using the simple setup of built in mic and macbook.

Cheers
Max

Thanx Max !

" Max Bass ", thats funny, not sure what your computer speakers are like but if they are anything like the ones in this MBpro, you would not have heard any of the low low bass on that track ! The built in mic on this thing really did need some work to get it to sound OK, I did my guitar in the bathroom and plucked the strings harder then I would have liked in order to keep the noise floor down as the mic can be noisy, same for her vocals.... bathroom and careful positioning. Then some EQ, fake reverb, and all that kinda stuff, so its ok but the little mic can be a bit strident in the upper mids which can be heard in the piece. All the other instruments were in the computer. Oh well just demos....

Thank you again !

cheers
