What's happening with the forum?
Posted by: Flame on 15 July 2010
Hi guys;
I know this section of the forum is more quiet and mostly visited by the more seasoned forum members. For that reason I ask, what is happening lately to the forum? I have noticed a recent increase in hostility in several threads. Regardless of whether there was a trigger to such violent mood or not, it is sad to observe this on the forum.
One of the best features about the Naim forum is the laid back, friendly and mature nature of the members. I hope we don't loose that.
Regards...

Would seem so do you, as you seem prompted to tell me about my comments almost before they happen.
Maybe I have a stalker?
Or are you unable to think of anything for your self?
Perhaps a 100 ways to use the word drivel?
Almost forgot

Howard, you're a very naughty boy! Stop trying to provoke Mr Parry!

Ah the Merlot moans. What a joy. People lecturing on grammar whilst writing appallingly. Always good for a laugh.
I've always thought that people who berate others on grammar should be hit over the head with a hardback copy of "The Unfolding Of Language" by Guy Deutscher. It might bring (both of) the boorish ignorant twerps to their senses!!!

It is your forum and you have to decide if 22,000 bits of dross are ok or unacceptable.
My view is clear, the standard from a couple of our contributors is pure and utter drivel. The problem is they spew it out all the time. If you think I am right, back me up and point it out to them, if you think it is ok then fair enough but ask yourself the question why this forum has slid from being the dominant hifi forum to just a run of the mill one.
At the end of the day it is all down to you.
Regards
Mick

Mick old chap.
I do think you'd be healthier and live longer (if that is what you want), if you would only drop this obsession.
Good luck fellow.

Mongo
Its not an obsession, I hardly come here now a days but I am quite happy to drop it.
I am just surprised you all tolerate it. It's your forum they are buggering up.

Howard; all I see from you are interminal posts about how horrid Mick is. So it is my business, plus I'm trying to save you from a heart attack.

Thanks.
I'll not get a heart attack from this forum, I 'm pretty sure. It's a form of therapy.

Might I ask how this sentence makes sense to you Mike?
How is someone else's correspondence your business?
Are you a recently promoted forum referee?
Truly. I'm intrigued. Seems rather arrogant to me. The action of a man full of himself. Or something else?
I'm also certain Mick is quite able to fight his own corner should he choose.
Still. nice to know the forum has a champion in the form of Mike Galahad Lacey.
Hugs, Paul.

If that is the general view, then all is lost and mediocrity has won the day. Truly a very sad milestone. I am now depressed that you are happy that this sad state of affairs should now be the norm.
This is like sitting in your favourite hotel and helplessly having to watch two chavs like wayne and waynetta slob come in uninvited, dropping their food out of their disgusting mouths onto the floor and pooing all over the place without shame or concern. The place gets slowly turned into a rubbish tip.

Let me put it another way; you are being unutterably dull with your Mick obsession. Its boring and to inflict it on us is just plain rude.
Messrs Mong O and Dudley are the only people I've ever put on my ignore list and I don't miss their "wit" in the slightest.

I think if you met Stuart then you'd really get on well with him ... and that's no doubt true of many other forum members.
Ideally the forum would be full of people helping each other with recommendations about music, hi-fi and green things in general. However, it often seems like it is full people trying to put forward their point of view - almost evangelising. Opinions are stated as if they are fact. I know I do it sometimes, but hopefully never too seriously.
It is rare for a debate to proceed and the contributors stop and say - I see I was wrong and I've now changed my mind. Parliament is the biggest laugh - debate, debate, debate - and does anybody ever change the way they are going to vote as a consequence - why not skip the debate and just vote. On this forum, we are often lured in to the same trap. A thread starts and two people disagree and after 10 pages they still do - nothing has changed.
So it would be great if this were simply a place for information and education, but .....

Some things don't change - I remember posts back in the 'spurs' days - and some were just like this - memory is selective.
No point in getting hung up over someones opinion whom you've never met or don't like, i say..
