XPS or 82, which way first ?

Posted by: gaby yoon on 28 October 2002

Hi all,

To post this topic, I'm moving from '72 vs 102 debate'.

Here's my actual system : CDX + 72/Hi + 250 + Spendor SP100 with NAC A5 and Black SNAIC.

For my next upgrade, I'm wondering which way is to go first : XPS or 82. I think the XPS would make certainly a substantial improvement (source first!) but will my actual 72/Hi be capable of reflecting fully the source quality?

Any comments or advices on this from all of you will be appreciated.

Regards.

Gaby.

Gaby--

Get the XPS. Fundamental musical improvement that is obvious even through a Nait 1. The 82 is definitely the next preamp to get, unless you can jump to a 52 or better.

Best,

Bob

Where in South Korea?

Bob,

Thanks for your advice. In that case, there would be no further discussion possible.

I'm living in Seoul. Have you ever been in Korea?

It's been almost 5 years that we have no dealer here of the Naim products. In fact, my 250 was imported s/h from the States with the voltage conversion. I'm making a particulaur effort to maintain my gears.

From where you are I would definately get an XPS first, then I'd Supercap the 72 and finally get a 52 head unit.

I have just added an XPS to my CDX and the iprovement has been astounding. There have been improvements in the bass clarity, depth of sound and sweeeter treble.

I thought the CDX was very good but the CDX/XPS is in a league of its own.
