What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

A bit of trivia:

The most serene track is an instrumental piece for violin, bass guitar and mellotron flute entitled "Trio". Even though there are no drums on the piece, drummer Bill Bruford received a composition co-credit because the piece was improvised live in concert and Bruford's decision not to add any percussion was seen by the rest of the band as a crucial choice.

Great album and there can't be many discs that come with a warning sticker that says "Track 3 features the sound of the studio being struck by lightning".

For those l;overs of Townes, Guy Clark etc.

I like it, this is about the 3rd listen. I don't know his mom and dads music all that well, but hear hints of Richard in Teddy's voice at times, but Teddy's has a distinctiveness of its own which is growing on me.

Not unlike the Ben Taylor I believe you have recommended, Steve. I hear the lineage but appreciate Ben's individuality.

Haven't heard TT's other albums.

Best to you both, Steve and Ewen, and thanks for the paths to great music.
