What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Saint Matthew Passion
Holy week, 1954. Some great soloists including Dieskau as Jesus, and Dermota as the Evangelist, and the incredible VPO under Furtwangler, taken from performances rather than studio efforts.
To suit the general state of emotional flux. Taken with great Polish Vodka, straight!
Fredrik
PS: Good night to y'all.

Excellent cello performance, here. Previn sub-standard, compared to the others. To my ears, at least.
cheers

Stefan,
I had nothing of Dusko Giykovich and very little of Samba music so I decided to try it and I like it a lot. There is a lot of good communication among the musicians and the playing is done with ease and a soft touch. Great music for a romantic dinner with your wife.
Another excellent Brazilian disc is NAIM's Espiritu. Do you have it?
Best regards,
Haim

Currently concerto no.11. Just picked up the whole set (rereleased yesterday at budget price, circa £40). Don't understand why this lot got such mediocre write-ups the first time round.
