What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Why i never knew of this band before.
Great Prog.

I said exactly the same when I first heard them about two years ago when "DeadWing' came out. The rest is history. Great Music. If you don't have "Lughtbulb Sun" it's being released in a couple of weeks. I highly recommend it.

Great album.
Far too long
Dusted off my old Linn Axis and gave it a service tonight, replaced bearing oil etc.
Not an ideal setup at the moment, using a Nait 3's phono stage via tape output to my 202 using a 10p interconnect. Still sounds pretty good.
I feel an LP12 might be coming

Highway 61 Revisited is my favourite Dylan album - I bought it on vinyl way back in 1960s.
Now listening to Second Hand (a re-mastered classic on CD)
I think I got the last copy from Amazon as it is now out of stock so I can start advertising it at ridiculous prices on evil-bay (only joking).

The arm will work well on a lp12 .I dont know anything about the K18 though.
My Basic Plus arm and K9 sounded great.
The LP12 is all about getting it set up right as you will know.
Weatheryou get a new one or old, Get the set up right and you will get hours of great music replay.
Stuart.
Thanks for the advice Stuart, that's kind of what I was thinking start with the arm I've got and get the rest of the deck sorted.

Stefan,
I like this trio a lot but could never find anything else by them. Do you know any other works by Alboran?
Regards,
Haim

Haim,
I am a big Burrell and Coltrane fan, but I'm afraid this is not one that I play regularly. Have you tried this one?
Kenny Burrell and Coleman Hawkins
Regards
Nic

Haim, as far as I know, this is their only album together - but at least it's a good one! I don't know if any of the trio members feature individually on other CDs.

Nic,
Unfortunately, no. The Burrell & Coltrane is the only disc of Burrell that I have. Thanks for the recommendation.
