What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Stefan - that is a superb album. Hard to find these days but worth searching for.

Adrian,

You recommended to me that album a year ago but I could not find it anywhere.

I snapped this up when I saw it in the record library, but I'm really not enjoying it so far. The acoustics don't help either - horribly soft and muddy for a piano recording.

Never realised I liked Sugababes til I got this!

West Philips - (I'm Just A Sucker) For A Pretty Face, in to Justice - Phantom Pt II, in to Sugababes - Round Round.

Inspired.

Way better than any of the various 2 Many DJs mixes available.

Les Voix Humaines

Susie Napper and Margaret Little pick up their Viola's again and perform this viola de gamba Vol.2 a year after recording Vol.1, in the same Church of St-Augustin, St-Augustin-de-Mirabel, Quebec, September 1998.
The play is very smooth and relaxing, and very similar to Vol.1
The reverboration is not as noticable on this Vol.2 album which makes me wonder if they corrected this somehow in the church using some sound absorbing material <?>

Very nice to play before retiring to bed : )
(Yawn!)

Hi Jamie - it's the only Orbital single I have a copy of, and very scratched - it's taken some abuse on some SL1210s in its time.

According to the site I took the picture from, the five minute sample on 2 Deep on the reverse is from their mum's cassette to help her stop smoking!

"Focus your attention on a spot, and when that spot has your full attention, take a deep breath... "

I have their first four albums - are any of the others worth checking out?

Awesome.

Squint slightly, and from a certain angle you can just about make it out.

Hi Peter,

It's better. Goes a little deeper, bit more clarity throughout and a little easier on the ear. More like vinyl than a CD. Not a huge difference to the 20 Bit remaster, but worthwhile.

Have you got Clapton's "Just One Night" as an audiophile CD set? I've just sent off for the Japanese version.

I've got three of the SHM CDs now. Dire Straits, this one and The Police Double Compilation. The most obviously better one is The Police. That's much better than the ordinary remaster series.
