What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Barely attending to excerpt from the Rite Of Spring by Stravinski on Radio Three's CD Review!
This is not quite what i had hoped for on an Easter Saturday!
Dear Ian, I hope that the Haydn shines through the frightful transfer!

Mozart's Sonatas for Piano and Violin
Mitsuko Uchida, piano
Mark Steinberg, violin
A very special duo, highly recommended.
Adrian, Stefan & Huw, to your attention.

Philips have had a lot of good fortune recording these.
The old set with Clara Haskil and Artur Grumiaux is still out [on Philips], and sounding as fresh and musically absorbing as the time it was recording in, fifty odd years ago. Its longevity is a tribute to its greatness as an immutably probing and satisfying view of the music.
