What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Lunasa - The Kinnity Sessions Live. An absolutely superb collection of tunes of the "If these don't get you dancing you're probably dead variety"

These lads could stand comparisson with Planxty, Bothy et al.

In the car was Seu Jorge - The Life Aquatic Studio Sessions, tremendous fun

Now home and giving the new Aro a go:
Milcho Leviev and Art Pepper Blues for the Fisherman

and now Milt Jackson's Memories of Thelonius Sphere Monk - anyone who thinks the Aro doesn't do bass needs their ears tested (imho, ymmv blah, blah, blah!). On vinyl but could only find a picture of the CD sleeve

Huw,

I cannot think of a better combination than Aro-Milcho.

Six French Suites, Bach, Thurston Dart playing a Clavichord. A very quiet instrument that comes out nicely at only about a millimetre off zero on the volume!

Goodnight to you all from Fredrik

A new purchase for me - still trying to really figure it out. It is beautiful in many ways but being African is different from the western music we are raised on so a little inaccessible.

The truth is that i've never seen the movie.

Local Hero is well worth seeing, lots of nice dry humour, great Scottish scenery, and a mermaid in a wetsuit if I recall well !
