What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Dear Ian,

Splendid! Fredrik

I wondered if you'd spot that! Haven't found time to work through all the music on these discs, far less have an opinion on it yet. The Finlandia is certainly good. Currently enjoying the 'Historical Scenes' on CD5 - at least I am, Riitta (the Finn) seems to be having a snooze on the sofa - but I guess that's allowed for hard-working folk on a Sunday Smile

Ending my St Patrick's Festival "Trad only" week with Sharon Shannon - Libertango (to welcome the triple crown to Ireland!) Sharon is always interesting and there is hardly a weak album in her canon

Peace Orchestra Reset on vinyl.
Highly recommended for those who fancy Gotan Project, Beanfield and Peter Kruder.

Brilliant solo piano music from Polish player Leszek Mozdzer (don't even try to pronounce his name...). All new, and story telling.

cheers

Wandering the highways and by-ways of my vinyl collection and somewhat inspired by "Walk the Line," and the wonderful Mother Maybelle Carter

Next up, the Notting Hillbillies

BTW - Stefan, through which speakers are you listening to Leszek Mozdzer?

Needed to blow out the cobwebs, don't often get the opportunity to revisit the late '70s - probably no bad thing either

UK Subs - Another kind of blues, blue vinyl as shown

To re-define eclecticism it will be followed by John Williams & Itzhak Perlman "Duo"

Darn it!!!

Originally known as Kaleidescope, Fairfield Palour released this absolute gem - bonus tracks like Sunny Side Circus and Bordeaux Rose (one of the best singles ever) make this one of my favourite re-releases.
