What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Rimsky-Korsakov - Scheherazade; RPO under Beecham. Wow! I always liked this but had to stop and take stock as this sounds so much better via Aro / Ace (soon to be Glider) than the old Ittok-Goldring combo.

Some new vinyl today:
Massive Attack - Collected
Morcheeba - Big Calm (180g)
Ben Harper & Blind Boys of Alabama - There will be a light
And finally, Hank Mobley - Roll Call
All on vinyl and all knocking spots of the CDs which will not be getting so much air time.

Thanks Peter!
Just pulled this one off the record cleaner
The Aro is now bedded in and pulling stuff from the grooves in a completely different and to my ears better way than the Ittok. It boogies with the Lingo so I can't wait to hear what extra the 'geddon brings to the party - a few beers at least
P.S. As you can tell, home alone so being a bit self-indulgent

And why not..........

Just got the bill for the plinth earlier, so I guess it will be here in the morning.
I look forward to fitting it and sharing some of those beers when I visit in August

Needless to say, the beers will be after the LP12 and especially the ARO are set up!

Best regards,
Peter

Maple - there is a slight warp in the existing plinth, but it is really part of my campaign to keep SWMBO happy with the aesthetics

PS - to keep on thread, currently John Coltrane at the Half Note on CD
