What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Bit of a Mahler fest. for me tonight. Was 9 with Bernstein/BPO, now 3 with Abbado/BPO.

Smile Great choice

Not only 27 Yards of Dental Floss and she still won't give me a smile, but also some of the greatest references in popular music:

Y is for Yate - a town where referees come from
Z is for Zondervan played for Ipswich ('84-'92). Born in Surinam, made a handful of appearances for Holland; still on the staff as a scout at Ipswich.

I have the sound track to "Master and Commander" playing - the key reason I bought it was to get hold of track 14. It's Boccherini's La Musica Notturna Delle Strade Di Madrid No. 6, Op. 30. As wonderful a piece of music as I have heard in a long time -

Oi!

My favourite would be

Sonny Rollins on Blue Note, Japanese pressing

was the new album from Calexico - lovely packaging, gatefold sleeve. A nice slab of vinyl. Not as immediate as some earlier albums, but listening session subject to constant interruption by SWMBO Roll Eyes
