What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Excellent.

Definitely something in the water in the UK circa 1980

Some good stuff being listened to today - Dusty, the Specials, so I thought I'd do my best to keep the standard high

Boney James & Rick Braun - Shake It Up.

Outrageously loud and bouncy, even at 7 o'clock on the dial. A great summer record, inspired by a sunny weekend.

I don't see too many other people listing ACE/KENT cds.

First bought an ACE cd when John Peel played Camille Howard's Extemeporaneous Boogie and he said he got more requests as to where to find that song than any other.

Since then I have rarely been disappointed by any ACE album I have, this one being no exception. Contains a fabulous reading of Dylan's George Jackson,

I'm off to bed now, as my Dad used say
"mornings come early"

A very nicely remastered CD: Get the Picure? (The Pretty Things)

It also has a vintage movie file hidden away on it - the movie loader expected me to still be running System 7.1, but if you click on the mov file in the data folder it plays in quick time under OSX.

More importantly the music plays very well on the CDX2/282/200.

If you like distortion when you bar chord - Frank's your man.

Hugely underrated artist. Several Gems in here.

Another outing for:

I can't find a picture of the sleeve, but I've just been listening to the Steve Gibbons Band's "Down in the Bunker" and it sounds fine - I'm using an ancient NVA phono stage and it is working quite nicely into the 282/200.

Great tracks on this album including 'No Spitting on the Bus" and "Eddie Vortex".

He was born in the nifty fifties
Wears a psychadelic hat
Looks like Eddie Cochran
And there's nothing wrong with that

Thanks Gianluigi - it is the second one that I have minus the "No Spitting" sticker. The first ones got some extra tracks like Toulene, which I don't have, but wish I did.
