What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

As I write this I listen to Iron Maiden Powerslave Big Grin

Best heavy metal band by far imho.

Just listened to Dizzy Gilespie Live in Montreux. (The big 7 album).

Another very great album Smile

Peter

Peter, have you heard Cathedral - best heavy metal band IMHO, but I like Iron Maiden too, Rotf

Zappa, Roxy and elsewhere, because ROTF said so. Somewhere. Nice, remarkably warm and polished. Good pieces. So slow!

John Cale: Black Acetate. Checking what he has been up to the last 20 years. I like his seventies work and 'Artificial Intelligence' which must be eighties. Didn't care for 'Songs for Drella'. I appreciate him more than Lou Reed. Don't take that as advice.

It's just like a penguin in bondage, boy and songs about turkey farmers are just great.

I wonder if any forum members, who love monster movies, have seen It conquered the world.

Glad you like it - it's my favourite live Zappa album.

Jamiroquai always makes me think of Napoleon Dynamite now!

i'd forgotten about that scene. he's also quite good in the 30-something chick-flick "Just Like Heaven" with Reese Witherspoon and some other dude who's name escapes me now. back to the tunes.

after a long day of wrenching on the bike, i'm sucking some brews with:

You call 1994 a 'yesteryear'?
This is. ( on a record, of course )

Alan Civil in Mozart's Concertos for Horn, and if 1994 is yesteryear where does that leave 1961, when I was born and this record released!

The only thing is that I can definately say is that I wish I had been forty in 1961! Which would make me very old or dead today. Either would suit!

Irshad Khan, The Magic of Twilight; two 'evening' ragas performed by this underrated sitarist. Beautifully recorded on Naxos.

I know nobody is going to believe me, but this is a good CD, some of it sounds like the Zombies and some is 60s pop-psych.

i need a little wake up music before i head out as my coffee grinder broke. to be honest, i've never heard the "real" DSOTM, only an odd song or two on the local '70's butt-rock station.

god i love days off from work without a care in the world. reggae makes me so happy.
