What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

I absolutely agree with you, Gianluigi.

Why can't I see the deeper magic of this ? I try again and again, but unlike other CD's I turn this one off, soon after I've put it on...

And now a bit of Janet Baker on Radio 3 (judging from the website she's singing Faure with Gerald Moore on the piano).

Hi Stefan!
Sometimes it happens to me that i get records i don't even listen for weeks or months.
Some records i did not listen to for years!
Sometimes the moment couldn't be the worst for a record, but the very next day that cd just fit the feeling.
That's life, i say!

Just the after dinner in a quite, still warm air.
And a glass of ruby red one.

Jason.
You call 1994 a 'yesteryear'?
This is. ( on a record, of course )![]()
Boy. Don't I feel old.![]()
Kuma,
As 1994 was in the last millenium, i reckon that qualifies for a yesteryear title! (albeit marginal).

Not sure what to listen to tonight tho.
Any recommendations?
Nighmares on Wax sounds promising. (on digital media

Stefan,
You are much better than me, at least you are trying. The music reviewers in the US fell over each other talking about this 'hidden treasure' so I bought it last year (mostly for Monk, I never cared much for Coltrane) and listened to it only twice.
Very strange...

Stefan,
I started from the bottom. From G to G was my first album of Trovesi which was good enough to make me get his later much better works of Fugace & In cerca di cibo (my favourite)
Best regards,

You're absolutely right, Haim, Reverse order is the problem, here. There are also "Round about Midsummer's Dream" (great), "Round about Weill" (well...), "Dedalo" (great) and some of the stuff he is part of (like "Castel Del Monte", etc.)
I've seen him on stage twice, and THAT'S the maximum. His broken English in combination with a very subtle Italian humour adds to his greast stage presence - especially when he's with Coscia.
cheers
Stefan

Jason,
Never picked up the Man with the Movie Camera. I have their previous one. Good stuff.
Seeing that you haven't posted, the CDX2/XPS2 is treating you well.
I'm jumping back and forth between the CDX/XPS2 and LP12 tonite and have to say the former hasn't let me down!

Just listened to the "Road to Hell" by Chris Rea. Saw him last night at the Hammersmith Apollo. He was brilliant and has prompted me to dig out more of his albums to listen to again.
