What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Hi Christian,
There can't be many Brits who have heard of the Norwegian group The Jon Ebbesen Band but I used to have one of their records which was an object of some romantic nostalgia going back to the early 80s. Do they still perform/record?
Med venlig hilsen,
Erik

WOW !
When I saw GSH, last time (10+ yeras ago in Mainz), he was an old, grey haired (yet very charismatic...) man, already. THIS album must be pre-war...
Good man, though.
myself:

a bit different to GSH, but...
cheers

I'm listening to Gerard Presencer - platypus. An amazing 'horn' player. This album was recommended to me by forum members - cheers! AND has inspired me to start playing flugel horn after 15 years of siting on my ass.

What about this?

Enjoyed this one in the car on the way to work. Love his use rhythm and mideastern influence in his work. His new recording arrives this month, can't wait. This month's DownBeat celebrates the "European invasion" into jazz. The influence of world culture has injected life into the music.

Great artist !
Saw Avishai, last year, and had my Jaw dropped to the floor (can I say this here ?) - unfortunately he was the "supporting act" for Cassandra Wilson, who in turn presented herself in a miserable way.
cheers
